PTA
Welcome to the Morden Primary PTA! We're a group of parents, carers, staff and friends working together to support our school community and raise funds to enhance every child's experience at Morden Primary.
What is a PTA?
The PTA is a partnership between people associated with Morden Primary who share the common goal of supporting pupils' education. We promote cooperation among parents, staff, governors, the local authority, and friends of the school.
- Engaging in activities that provide additional facilities or equipment for pupils
- Encouraging new families to participate in the life of the school
- Welcoming all parents, carers and friends to get involved in any way they can
All parents are automatically members of the PTA. Whether you can help regularly or only occasionally, your contribution will make a big difference.
Meet the Committee
Chair – Stephanie Darmody
I have been a Morden Primary parent for over 5 years. My son Alec is in Year 3, and my daughter Robyn is in Year 1. The school and its staff have always supported my children and we feel fortunate to be part of such a family-focused school community. I enjoy helping the school and was honoured to be chosen as PTA Chair. I hope to encourage as many parents as possible to get involved in organising and running fundraising events.
Vice Chair – Liz Jennings
My daughter Amy-Grace is in year 5 and has attended Morden Primary school since she was 3 years old. I did not enjoy school so, I feel blessed to be able to share the experience with my daughter so I have better memories. I enjoy helping out and being part of The Morden family and I want to encourage others to do the same.
Secretary – Fiona Burn
My grandchildren currently attend Morden Primary. The school is truly family-oriented, not just for the children but for their families too. The PTA organises various events throughout the year that we hope the children enjoy, all while supporting the school. I'm proud to be part of a group that helps the staff and students thrive.
Treasurer – Anna Diamant
As Deputy Headteacher and Treasurer of the PTA, I am committed to supporting the fantastic work the PTA does to raise funds for equipment, experiences and opportunities that the school would not otherwise be able to provide. The PTA plays a vital role in enriching school life and strengthening links between home and school. As a mother of a four-year-old myself, I know how important it is for families to feel involved in their child's school community, and I am proud to support this work.
What Does the PTA Do?
Our primary aim is to raise funds for resources and experiences that enhance our children's learning and wellbeing — items and opportunities that fall outside the school's main budget.
- Support for school sports teams and enrichment activities
- Contributions to educational resources and technology
- Providing play and learning equipment
We also host social events that bring the community together. These include discos, fairs and seasonal celebrations that help parents and children connect while supporting a good cause — our children!
What Has the PTA Provided?
- Musical backdrop for performances
- Garden archway installation
- Set of class recorders
- Lighting and stereo equipment
- Reading material for book corners
How We Keep You Informed
Upcoming events and PTA news are shared through the school's newsletter and website. Everyone is welcome at PTA meetings where future events and fundraising ideas are discussed.
Example event: The Spooky Disco, organised and run entirely by our PTA volunteers, is always a highlight of the school calendar!
We hope this gives you a clear picture of what the PTA is and how you can be involved. It may sound daunting, but being part of the PTA is incredibly rewarding, fun and fulfilling — and most importantly, it benefits our children.
Meeting dates will be posted on the school website. We hope to see you there!
If you'd like to get involved or learn more, please contact the committee via the school office or our website.
