Royal Variety Show

Thursday 9th June was, in many children’s opinions, “the best day ever!” We held our Royal Variety show outdoors where an array of talent was shown.

Each class performed a song & dance routine reflecting their decade performance. It ranged from EYFS singing and dancing to Bob the Builder to Y2 dancing away to the Spice Girls with “Spice up your life.” To add to the mix, we had magic acts, poetry, song performances, skipping, dancing, recorder band playing “God Save the Queen” and comedians!

The Royal Variety Show was followed by an outdoor Royal Garden Party with sandwiches, scones/jam/cream for lunch.

Her Majesty is an avid environmentalist. So, after lunch, we planted saplings around the school field. Each class, plus the Governors, Admin and SLT had a special plot allocated where they planted their tree. Each group then had to discuss and agree a sustainability pledge to look after our school environment and ensure it is sustainable for future generations. We then shared some special Jubilee cake and enjoyed the sunshine.

Our final day of celebrations included the children learning about some of Commonwealth countries.
It was an extremely exciting and fun week and one that we are sure the children will remember forever. I would like to thank all the staff involved for planning some a memorable experience for the children at Morden Primary.
